AUSSIE FRIENDLY

Australia will be taking on South Korea in a friendly match on Wednesday night at Hwaseong. The Australian national team manager Holger Osieck has said that it will be an extremely important match for both teams given that it helps them gauge the level of performance against a very good opposition.

Australia and South Korea are two of the favourite teams to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Despite this, they will be utilising a number of young players for the friendly match, but it will be a good measurement tool to know the level of both teams according to Holger Osieck.

Prior to this match, Oman will be taking on Japan in the group match while Iran will be taking on Uzbekistan in another group match. Due to the timing of both these matches, both Australia and South Korea could be in the second position in the respective groups by the start of this encounter. Osieck has also said that his counterpart Kang-Hee has been doing extremely well with the South Korean national team and he deserves a lot of respect. Kang-Hee has also done extremely well in his previous jobs according to Osieck, who is expecting a very tough match ahead.

"This time, Australia will bring in new players because we have to plan for the future as well so I expect of course a very difficult game because the Korean players have a lot of talent. It's definitely always better to have all the players together for a few more days but it doesn't happen this time. Tomorrow is a very good opportunity for both teams to test because we are both in a very similar situation, we are both second in our World Cup qualifying group," said Osieck ahead of the match.
