NUNO TOLD ‘BUILD TEAM AROUND SON’

New Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been told to build him team around South Korea national team skipper Son Heung-Min if star player Harry Kane leaves the club this summer. Nuno was told to build his team around the South Korea player by former Leeds United and Manchester City right-back Danny Mills in a chat with Football Insider.

Spurs striker Kane is attracting the interest of Manchester City and Manchester United and it’s not certain if the England international skipper will stay at the North London club beyond this summer. Various reports claimed that Manchester City had a bid of £100m turned down by Spurs who are holding on for a lot more than that. The bid for the Englishman was reported last month by several trusted media outlets.

Kane and South Korea player Son are undoubtedly the top two stars at Spurs. While Kane has been the subject of interest from other Premier League teams, Son has not been linked with a move away from the club despite having two years left on his current deal. It has been reported that Spurs are in talks to extend his contract.

Spurs are ready to offer the South Korean international a three-year contract extension that will take him to 2026 at the club. Son has already told new manager Nuno that he can count on him for the new season in what’s a big boost for Spurs as pointed out by Mills. According to him, the news of Son focusing on the new managerial regime at Spurs is a welcomed development and that the manager can build his team around him in case Kane leaves. Mills says South Korea national team star Son would be perfect for the role if Nuno decides to build his team around him as he has great work ethic and real quality.

SON MAKES SCORING RETURN

South Korea national team skipper Son Heung-Min made a scoring return to the Tottenham Hotspur starting line-up last weekend but his goal could not save his team from losing to Manchester United in a Premier League encounter played at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The South Korea attacker sustained an hamstring problem in the 2-1 defeat at Arsenal in the North London Derby last month and he didn’t return until after the recent international break.

Son Heung-Min had to go off early during the North London Derby because of the injury. His replacement Erik Lamela scored a world class goal in the first half to give their team the lead at the Emirates Stadium before hosts Arsenal roared back with two goals from Martin Odegaard and Alexandre Lacazette (penalty) to win the game. The goals came either side of the interval with Lacazette netting the winning goal from the penalty spot in the second half.

South Korea attacker Son Heung-Min returned from the hamstring problem in the away game at relegation threatened Newcastle United. He came on in the second half with the scoreline at 2-1 in favour of his team but Spurs could not hold on for the three points after Arsenal loanee Joe Willock came off the bench to score the equaliser for hosts Newcastle United. English midfielder Willock is on loan at the Magpies from North London rivals Arsenal.

Son scored in the first half of Spurs’ game with Manchester United shortly after he had been involved with a disallowed Manchester United goal .His goal gave Spurs a 1-0 lead at the interval but visitors Manchester United came back in the second half to score three goals through Brazilian international Fred, EdinsonCavani and Mason Greenwood. Young England striker Greenwood came off the bench to score the third goal in added time and win the game for the Red Devils.

With the defeat, Spurs failed to take the chance of moving into the top six on the league table and within three points of the Champions League places. On their part, Manchester United consolidated second place and also moved to within 11 points of leaders Manchester City with a game in hand.
