GOLDEN BOOT: SON GIVEN HEROIC WELCOME
Son Heung-Min was given a heroic welcome in South Korea when he touched down in the Asian country this week after his impressive showing in the Premier League this season. A lot of fans were at the airport to welcome their hero after representing South Korea very well in the Premier League.
Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-Min is in his native South Korea to prepare for the upcoming set of international games. South Korea will step up preparation for this year's World Cup in Qatar with some friendly games against South American teams next month. The South Koreans will face five-time world champions Brazil on June 2 before facing Chile four days later. They will round up their friendly games next month with the clash with Paraguay on June 10.
South Korea have lined up friendlies against three South American teams since they would be facing South American team Uruguay at the World Cup tournament in Qatar later this year. The South Koreans are in the same group with the two-time world champions. South Korea have been in drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, Ghana and Uruguay.
Barring any injury, Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son would be the main man for South Korea when they start their campaign in Group H in Qatar. He scored five goals in his last four games to finish as the recipient of the Golden Boot award in the Premier League this season with 23 goals. Son received a heroic welcome from his compatriots as a result of the feat. It was his first Golden Boot award and he shared it with Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah. The former Bayer Leverkusen player had trailed Salah for the majority of the season before he caught up with the Egyptian on the final day of the season after scoring twice in the 5-0 thrashing of bottom team Norwich City.
